So, there is a small but powerful exercise that can help whenever employees feel nothing is working for them. You can change their mindset by producing positive action from harmful conflicts.

I encourage all my clients to focus on a specific question each time they feel stressed about a professional challenge in their lives. By now I believe you have realized that coaching is all about asking powerful questions, which enables fruitful thinking and generates the desired outcome when the client feels passionate about change.

Well, ask your employees to write this quote: “What would have to happen in order to…” Then encourage them to complete the phrase with whatever feels right to them at that moment, with what needs to be done for them to overcome the challenge without feeling shy.

The point is not to concentrate on the challenge itself, but instead, to choose to clarify and reflect on the desired outcome they want to invite in their professional life.

Thus they will have the opportunity to face the challenge through a positive spectrum and this will enable them to escape the stress of the situation quickly.

Are you wondering how does this question work? It’s all about human psychology and how we reflect on a challenge. When you focus on the positive feelings you want to embrace, at the same time you abandon negativity and start overcoming resentment.

It works great for companies. When a specialist executive coach or an experienced HR head takes employees through this process, shows that the company cares and values people’s opinions. In addition, the company gains valuable insight into their views.
